Puducherry government employees to get DA arrears next week

Express News Service

Government employees have a reason to cheer as the government has decided to release the DA arrears of three months by next week before the salary on October 25.

The decision was taken at a meeting convened by CM N Rangasamy with the chief secretary and finance secretary and other officials at the Secretariat on Friday.

“I cleared the file in this regard on Friday and the arrears will be released at the earliest,” Rangasamy told Express. The arrears of increased DA for the months of July, August and September will be released as soon as the bills are presented by the respective departments. The salary will be released on October 25, when the enhanced DA for October will be paid with the salary.

The additional financial implication due to the DA hike in the current financial year (July to March) for employees (non-plan and plan posts) is `50 crore, official sources said.

Though the government decided to postpone the payment of arrears to November, it changed its decision after government employees expressed discontent. As the festival season is on, the associations urged the government to release the DA.
