Express News Service

PUDUCHERRY: The Principal Sessions Judge P Velmurugan has cancelled the bail granted to the four accused in a case of abetting the suicide of first year woman student of a private engineering college at Kalitheerthalkuppam.

After hearing counsels of the petitioner  Ilango and the accused, the judge cancelled the bail for the four faculty members of the college - Earnest Paul, Bavani, Geetha and Priyatharshini.

The four accused had tried to tamper with the witnesses and hamper the investigation, thereby violating the conditions imposed under in the bail order dated March 4 last. However, the judge said the respondents’ petition pending before the Madras High Court for quashing the FIR is no way connected with this petition because it only has sought the cancellation of the bail.

It was alleged that on February 24, 2014, the accused abetted Vinothini, daughter of Ilango, studying EEE course, to commit suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of the building of the private Institute of Technology.
