Two Killed in Road Accident Near Ambur

VELLORE: Two people died on the spot when they tried to cross the NH  near Ambur here on Thursday morning.

As many as 100 people were going to  the Amman temple with an Amman idol in procession at Madhanur Thotalam near Ambur around 9 am. When they were  crossing the NH, a Vellore bound bus from Hosur ran amok injuring many and killing  Murugesan (45) and Ragu (45).

Murugesan died on the spot and Ragu  of Srinivasan Nagar died on the way to the hospital. The injured were admitted to the GH. A case was registered. Police are interrogating the bus driver and conductor.

Teacher Arrested

A school teacher, who allegedly threatened to kill his wife,  was arrested by the personnel of All Women Police Station here on Thursday. Vishwanathan (51), working as a school teacher in a government school near Vaniyambadi, and wife Manokari(48), a nurse in a government hospital in Madhanor, used to fight often.

Due to this, Manokari had earlier lodged a complaint in June. They were counselled. But, the couple fought again and this time Manokari complained to the SP, stating that her husband was into an illicit affair and had threatened to kill her. Acting on the complaint, the SP instructed  the All Women Police Station in Ambur to arrest Vishwanathan on Thursday.
