PUDUKKOTTAI/TIRUCHY:  Timely action by the officials stopped the marriage of a plus two student on Wednesday. Based on a tip -off, a team led by Neela, inspector of anti-trafficking wing,  rushed to Vellanur and made investigations at Annavasal. Finally, they found the bride’s family and held talks with the girl’s father. It is said, he initially opposed the stopping of his daughter’s marriage.

The girl was later brought to Childline home, where she was housed.  Meanwhile, in Tiruchy, a minor marriage scheduled to be held on Thursday morning was stopped by the District Social Welfare officials, and the rescued girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee on Thursday noon.
