Chief Minister N Rangasamy said Phase III of integrated court complex which is the construction of building to accommodate criminal courts would soon begin after obtaining permission from the Forest Department, situated close to the court complex premises.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the common facilities block (undertaken in Phase II), he said the construction work of building for the court in Karaikal, the foundation stone of which was laid already, would commence soon.
N Rangasamy said his government is taking steps to provide financial assistance to young lawyers at ` 2,000 per month during their initial years and is also initiating measures to set up a Lawyers Welfare Fund.
The block, which was opened on Sunday by Justice Satish K Agnihotri, acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court, is built at a cost of ` 8.80 crore. He also opened the “Neethi Devathai” installed at the main building. Reading out a report on the new block, PWD Chief Engineer S Manohar said the building to accommodate criminal courts will be set up at a cost of ` 27 crore and will have a multilevel car parking facility.
