Dharmapuri is set for a serioius political drama on Sunday as DMDK chief Vijayakant is arriving for the poll campaign in the district and the entire team of PMK bigwigs are also attending a party meeting on the same day.  While DMDK sources claimed that Vijayakant might field a party candidate for Dharmapuri seat, the PMK is also set to make public the candidature of Anbumani for the same constituency on Sunday.

There were reports that both the parties were vying with each other for this former Naxal hot-bed during the seat-sharing talks with the BJP. With the meetings coinciding on Sunday, both DMDK cadre and PMK leaders expect Vijayakant to clear the air on the matter. Though the DMDK cadre were confused whether their chief would give the seat to PMK, a source from the State committee of the party told Express that their leader had decided to field his own candidate from Dharmapuri.

Meanwhile, DMDK Dharmapuri district secretary, after attending a meeting at party headquarters in Chennai on Friday, said, “As the alliance talks with BJP have not yet concluded, our leader (Vijayakant) will not campaign for Anbumani in Dharmapuri on Sunday. Moreover, we have not received any formal invitation from the PMK for its candidate introduction meeting.”

Meanwhile, PMK founder S Ramadoss will be attending the Sunday meeting where Anbumani Ramadoss will be introduced as the Dharmapuri candidate, said a press release from PMK district committee. Affirming that there would be compromise on candidature, A Saravanan, State deputy secretary of PMK, told Express, “We expect the consensus talks with BJP to finalise before Sunday. However, surely, Anbumani Ramadoss would contest from Dharmapuri.”
