Demand for New Stations in Arakonam

VELLORE: The Arakonam Rail Passengers Association, in a memorandum submitted to the railway minister Sadananda Gowda, has urged  the building of new railway stations at Venakatesapuram (near the INS Rajali naval base)and Kainoor (near the Arakonam north cabin) for the benefit of commuters.

According to Naina Masilamani, president of the association, the platform of the Arakonam station should be extended to accommodate  trains with 24 bogies. The other demands were shelters and ramps on platforms, necessary electrical installations and a new platform  adjacent to the ticket booking counter at Arakonam to enable students, senior citizens and ailing patients.
