UT Looks To Appoint Teachers Exclusively for Special Children

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry administration will take necessary steps to  appoint special teachers  to teach children with special needs as well as regularise the service of the special teachers engaged by the government, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the Legislative Assembly on Monday.

Replying to a question from A Baskar (AIADMK), Rangasamy said there were difficulties in  the creation of posts, hence special teachers were engaged. No special teachers had been appointed by the  administration so far, he added.

However, he said, the administration had regularised the service of multi-task staff and accorded promotion to many. Similarly, he said, steps would be taken to regularise the special teachers when posts were created for the benefit of 1,681 special students studying here, he said.

DMK Floor Leader AMH Nazeen suggested that while appointing teachers to regular posts, priority could be given to teachers with special qualification, till specific posts were created for them. 

AIADMK member A Bhaskar said trhat Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was appointing and regularising the service of special teachers. To this, Rangasamy said the powers of the State government and Union Territorial government were different
