Trio Arrested for Arson

COIMBATORE:Rathinapuri police on Sunday arrested three persons in connection with a case of arson after the gang set fire to a house in Gandhi Nagar, Sivanandha Colony.

Police sources said that on Friday, Sathish, a fruit seller, had a quarrel with one Venkatesh of the same area over the price of fruits. Sathish allegedly stabbed Venkatesh with a knife who sustained injuries and was admitted to CMCH, while Sathish was booked under section 307, IPC and remanded to custody.

Meanwhile, four friends of Venkatesh -- Nawas Khan, Mullai Arun, S Suresh and C Simon -- went to the house of Sathish’s mother-in-law R Bannari (40) on Saturday and set fire to the house.

Property worth around Rs 5,000 was damaged in the incident. Based on a complaint, Rathinapuri police registered a case under section 436 of the IPC against the four. They arrested three accused on Sunday and are on the lookout for Nawas Khan.
