Team Arrives to Check Site for TN's AIIMS

CHENNAI:  A five-member team headed by Dharitri Panda, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare landed here on Wednesday to inspect various  sites suggested by Tamil Nadu for setting up the AIIMS in the State.

The state government has identified 200 acres of land in Perundurai in Erode District, Thopur in Madurai District, Pudukottai Nagar in Pudukottai District, Sengipatti in Thanjavur District, Chengalpattu in Kancheepuram District.

According to a senior State health official, the team will remain in Tamil Nadu till April 25 and hold discussions with officials. During the discussion, work on the National Institute of Aging project, that is to be set up at The King Institute of Preventive Medicine, Chennai would also be taken up.
