Snake in Airport hall Triggers Commotion

Express News Service

THOOTHUKUDI: There was panic at the Thoothukudi airport on Sunday morning when passengers spotted a snake in the building and raised an alarm.

Around 9 am, when passengers of a SpiceJet flight from Chennai were waiting at the arrival area for their luggage, a passenger saw the snake under the chairs. Passengers started screaming for help. Scared children stood on the chairs. The snake tried to escape out of the building but could not as people were streaming in through the door.

Airport security guards and policemen rushed to the spot and tried to catch the snake. They ended up killing the snake as trapping it seemed difficult. Normalcy returned to the airport only after the snake was killed.

Though some of the politicians including VCK leader, Tirumavalavan, and district Tamil Manila Congress secretary, SDR Vijayaseelan, arrived at Thoothukudi at that time, they did not encounter the panic as they did not have luggage to pick up and exited directly.

Flier Harassed

Meanwhile, a passenger who tried to film the snake was allegedly harassed by a cop at the airport. Arun claimed that a policeman, without saying anything to him, got hold of him by his collar and started harassing him.

When he questioned the cop, he told Arun that filming was not allowed at the airport. But when he pointed out that there were no notices anywhere about filming being banned, the policeman got infuriated and further harassed him, claimed Arun.
