Seshasamudram Violence: Jaya Grants Rs 50k Aid to 8 Cops, 3 Village Assistants

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday granted a financial assistance of Rs.50,000 each to eight police personnel and three village assistants who have suffered injuries while engaged in containing violent incidents at Seshasamudram village in Villupuram district on August 15.

In a statement here, the Chief Minister said law and order issue cropped up between two sections of people regarding car festival and violent incidents followed. Police personnel and employees from Revenue Department tried to check the violent incidents and during their efforts, they suffered injuries.  

Sankararapuram Special Sub Inspector Kulandaivelu, Grade I contables Balamurugan, Rajanbabu and Saravanan, Villupuram district Armed Police constables Ranjithkumar, Parameswara Padmanaban, Yuvaraj and Saravanan, Village Assistants from Valayampatti,  Manjaputhur and Kallerikuppam villages - Selvam, Balusamy and Ganesan suffered injuries, an official release here said.
