Deer Saved From Stray Dogs in Tamil Nadu

MADURAI: Resident of Narasingampatti today saved a rare deer, which had come in search of water from the Nearby Perumal Malai, from a group of dogs which surrounded the deer and mauled it.

The dogs spotted the deer which had strayed into the four lane road and bit the deer at several places.

People hearing the cries of the deer rushed to the spot and chased away the dogs with stones and rescued the bleeding deer and provided water for it.

Later they handedover the animal to the forest department officials.

The forest departent officials said that the four year old barking deer was rare to find in this area. The female deer weighing 80Kg and three feet tall, had suffered extensive "bite-injuries", Forest officials said.
