AAP Splits, Tamilaga Aam Aadmi Party Coming Soon

Express News Service

CHENNAI:In what could be a setback to the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Admi Party (AAP), a group of functionaries of the Tamil Nadu unit has decided to break away from the parent outfit and form an independent party on the ground that the central leadership of AAP is preoccupied only with the national capital.

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, the nearly 30 functionaries said they would soon register their yet-to-be-found party as ‘Tamilaga Aam Admi Party.’  They maintained that the requirement for an independent outfit was felt as the leaders from outside had no idea of the State’s requirements. “For last one year there is no leadership for the party in the State. The leaders from outside the State, with no understanding of Tamil Nadu politics, often come and give directions before leaving the State, very quickly. The Delhi leadership is an only a hurdle to take forward the protest based on the sentiments of the Tamil people,” read a resolution passed by the functionaries. But they maintained that Arvind Kejriwal would continue to be their leader and their ideology will be same as the parent party.
