Man Rides Off into Groove, Dies

VELLORE: A 42-year-old contractor died under mysterious circumstances in a roadside groove in Jolarpet on Wednesday night. 

The deceased P Vivekanandan, was a resident of Solaiyur in Jolarpet. According to a police official, “Vivekanandan was returning home on Wednesday night after supervising a borewell contract. When he reached Solaiyur railway gate, he drove his bike into the groove. He might have been speaking on the phone while driving or some vehicle could have hit him and pushed him into the groove.”

“There is no sign of murder. His head was injured after it hit a stone in the groove. His gold chain and mobile phone were robbed by residents who saw him dead,” said the officer.

A case was registered in Jolarpet police station and an inquiry is on.
