VELLORE: Dr Amar Agarwal’s eye hospital has opened a 10,000 square feet facility in Vellore, which was inaugurated by Vikram Prabhu, noted film actor, at a function on Saturday. Dr Amar Agarwal,in his address at the inauguration, said that eye-care is a major health-care concern.
“Gone are the days when people had to travel long distances to cities to avail medical care facilities. We have brought world class eye-care at your doorsteps now,” he told the gathering.
The Vellore branch boasts of advanced technology on par with any super-speciality eye-hospital in the world. The hospital will offer the services of a modular operation theatre to prevent infections and specialized vitreoretinal and advanced LASIK services fulfilling the need for retinal care with modalities for surgical and medical treatment including refractive error correction with latest laser procedures.
The facility will also offer high-tech cataract surgery, treatment for glaucoma, squint correction, eye-care for children, low-vision aid, ocular oncology, corneal correction, manned by seven consultants, two surgeons, two lab technicians, two pharmacists and four operation-theatre technicians.
Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals have received global recognition for its inventions - Micro-Phakonit (Cataract surgery with 0.7 mm size incision) in 1999 and ‘Glued Intraocular Lens Implants’ performed on a four-year-old girl in January 2008 by Dr Amar Agarwal, the founder and the current chairman and managing director of the Agarwal Group of Eye Hospitals.
“Our doctors will serve one and all with humility,” Dr Agarwal added.
Vikram Prabhu described the facility as Vellore’s new landmark.
