IT Dept Files Complaints against three For Dodging Taxes

COIMBATORE: The Department of Income Tax has filed 12 complaints against three persons, including an industrialist, for tax evasion, before Chief Judicial Magistrate N Muralidharan on Friday. Special Public Prosecutor for Income Tax V Vijayakumar submitted the complaints against an industrialist, who owns a call taxi company and was dodging taxes to the tune of Rs 20 crores. He is said to have been dodging the IT authorities for the last seven years. Another industrialist had a complaint submitted against him for failing to pay tax of Rs 95 lakh over a year. A chartered accountant is also said to have failed to pay taxes for three years and is said to owe IT authorities Rs 1.4 crore. Further action would be dropped if they paid their outstanding taxes.
