Stalin visits ailing orator 'Theepori' Arumugam

MADURAI : He made the DMK shine in his early days with fiery speech that earned him the prefix ‘Theepori’. Now in old age, his failing health has been a hot topic of discussion on social media.

Offering a helping hand to ‘Theepori’ Arumugam, DMK treasurer M K Stalin visited the party’s platform speaker at a private hospital here on Thursday and handed over a cheque of `1 lakh.

The star speaker got the prefix ‘Theepori’ added to his name, after DMK founder and late Chief Minister C N Annadurai appreciated his electrifying speech at a public meeting. Though he started his political career with the DMK, he switched to the AIADMK for a short period before returning to the same party.

The 77-year-old was admitted in the hospital, following a pancreatic disorder.

While consoling Arumugam in the hospital, DMK leader Stalin said party president M Karunanidhi wished him to get well soon.

Expressing his happiness, Arumugan said he was touched as Stalin visited him despite his tight work schedule.
