Morphed nude photos: Parents of deceased girl refused to receive body

Vinupriya's father alleged that police know the real culprit in this case, but were not arresting him.

SALEM: Parents of a 21-year-old girl, who committed suicide after her morphed nude picture was uploaded in a fake Facebook account in her name, have refused to receive her body for the second consecutive day.

According to Magudanchavadi police, last week morphed half nude picture of the deceased girl Vinupriya (21), daughter of a weaver Annadurai from Elampillai in Salem, was uploaded in a fake Facebook account on her name.

She had completed BSc (Chemistry) and was staying home, her friend who saw the picture had informed her.

Following this, on June 23, Vinupriya's father lodged complaint with District Superintendent of Police (SP) office seeking action against the person who released the picture in the social media site. Later the complaint was forwarded to Magudanchavadi police. Based on the information provided by the girl, police enquired a person.

Meanwhile on Sunday night, another morphed nude photo was released in Facebook along with Vinupriya’s father mobile number. Following this, while her parents left the house to do some work, she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling.

When her parents returned home they found her hanging and took her to Salem Government Hospital, but doctors pronounced her brought dead. The police registered a case in this regard and postmortem was conducted on Monday.

But Vinupriya's parents refused to receive the body until the accused is arrest by the police. Attempts by police officials to persuade her parents to receive the body went futile.

Her parents, for the second day, refused to received her body, till the accused was arrested. On Tuesday morning, the girl parents and relatives went to Salem Collectorate and submitted petition to District Collector V Sampath urging the district administration to look into the matter.
