Kuppampalayam Residents Want Action Against Priest for Sexual Harassment

NAMAKKAL: The residents of Kuppampalayam here staged a dharna in front of a Diocese Society on Sunday, demanding action against a priest, for allegedly sexually harassing women.

According to police, Shekhina Diocese Society was functioning at Kuppampalayam on the Namakkal-Tiruchy road for over 15 years. Samuvel Aaron was the priestthere. However, some residents alleged that he was sexually harassing women who came there. Last month some residents had lodged a complaint with the police in this regard.

On Sunday, the residents came to the Diocese for prayer but found it locked. Shocked over this, they staged a dharna in front of the Diocese. The Namakkal police held talks and assured action against Samuvel, following which the stir was called off.
