RAMESWARAM: Enraged by her husband's 'illicit' relationship with another woman, a police constable allegedly assaulted her and ransacked her house in the district.
Police said they have registered cases against constable Sumathi and five others, including her colleagues, and were searching for them in connection with the incident at
Vellakkal.
The woman suffered head injuries and had been hospitalised, they said.
Sumathi, attached to the Armed Police wing in Madurai, came to know about the illegal affair of her husband and along with her colleagues and some others barged into the house of the woman last night.
They smashed all the household goods besides assaulting the woman on her head.
On a complaint from the woman, police have registered cases and searching for Sumathi and others.
