V Narayansamy to be new chief minister of Puducherry

PCC President A Namassivayam proposed the name of Narayanasamy and was seconded by former chief minister V Vaithilingam.

PUDUCHERRY: AICC General Secretary and former Union minister of state V Narayansamy has been appointed as the chief minister of Puducherry. AICC observer Sheila Dixit said that he was unanimously elected the leader of congress legislature party at a meeting of all the newly elected members.

PCC President A Namassivayam proposed the name of Narayanasamy and was seconded by former chief minister V Vaithilingam. The decision was conveyed to  AICC President Sonia Gandhi who approved it.

Narayanasamy said that he would stake claim to form the government on a date to be decided in consultation with the party.

Narayanasamy , who did not contest the Assembly elections will be required to get elected to the Assembly within a period of six months.

In the 30 member Assembly, the congress which has won ,15 seats will require the support of its ally,  the two member DMK to have full majority.
