CHENNAI: THE Congress and its splinter, the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC), have announced separate agitations next week to protest the Centre's currency fiasco.

TNCC president S Thirunavukkarasar said the party would hold demonstrations in front of nationalised banks at 11 am on November 21 in all the districts to reflect the people's angst against the demonetisation resorted to by the Narendra Modi Government.

According to him, restrictions imposed on cooperative banks had completely crippled the rural economy as farmers and labourers were not able to withdraw money.

Meanwhile, TMC president GK Vasan said his party would hold a demonstration on November 23 in front of collectorates to highlight the plight of the public due to the banning of currency notes.
