CHENNAI: The bypoll results across the country offered no surprises, as the ruling parties outdid their competitors. The AIADMK won all three seats in Tamil Nadu, with former AIADMK minister Senthil Balaji beating his nearest rival from the DMK by 23,661 votes in Aravakurichi, M Rengasamy winning with a 26,874-vote margin in Thanjavur, and AK Bose registering a lead of 42,670 votes in Thiruparankundram Assembly constituency.

With the BJP securing the third spot in Aravakurichi and the next highest number of votes going to the NOTA option, the DMDK was pushed to the fifth spot. In Puducherry, CM V Narayanasamy won the Nellithope by-election by 11,144 votes, ensuring his continuance as the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, the BJP won both LS and Assembly seats in Assam and Madhya Pradesh, the TMC retained its seats in West Bengal, CPI-M won both Assembly seats in Tripura and NEDA bagged Arunachal’s Hayuliang seat.
