CHENNAI: VIT, School of Law conducted a national moot court competition on international law, which is a mock court practice by law students on imaginary cases on Saturday. As many as 11 institutions from across the country participated in the competition.
Speaking at the occasion, Justice T Mathivanan said the subject of international law was gaining more importance. The international humanitarian law is one of the subjects of international law. “During our time, we didn’t know the nuances and depth of law,” he said adding that law consisted of various subjects and that students should prepare themselves thoroughly in every field. “Criminal law is being amended to make it more stringent. Students should take note of changes and be thorough with them and not simply study the subject,” he said. The 11 institutes which participated included Alliance University, Symbiosis Law school, Pune, Saveetha School of law, Tamil Nadu National Law school, the Central Law College, Government Law College, Sastra University, Bharath Institution of law, Dr Ambedkar government law college, Chennai, National University of Advanced legal strudies, Government law college, Kozhikode, Dr Ambedkar Global Law institute.
