Dr Malcolm & Adiseshiah Award goes to Profesor Nandini Sundar

CHENNAI: Nandini Sundar, a professor in the University of Delhi, has been selected for the Dr Malcolm & Adiseshiah award, which is presented every year by Malcolm & Elizabeth Adiseshiah Trust in the field of social sciences.

A statement from the Malcolm & Elizabeth Adiseshiah trust said the award would be presented to Nandini Sundar on November 21, which is also the death anniversary of Malcolm Adiseshiah, a respected economist and founder of the Madras Institute of Development Studies.Nandini Sundar is Professor of Sociology at the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi.

Prof Sundar had written acclaimed books including The Burning Forest: India’s War in Bastar, The Scheduled Tribes and their India and Civil Wars in South Asia: State, Sovereignty, Development.

Last year, she was booked on charges of murdering a tribal man in Chhattisgarh which had met with nationwide outrage against the Chhattisgarh Government since the case was widely believed to be foisted on the professor.
