VELLORE: Sagadevan, a murder convict, reportedly escaped from the Vellore Central Jail in the early hours of Thursday by scaling the compound wall using a long cloth. This is the same prison where three of the Rajiv Gandhi assassin convicts are imprisoned.

Prison officials said they noticed a long cloth on a high-rise compound wall around 6 am. When they were combing the area, they spotted Sagadevan running at a distance. Attempts to catch him were futile.
