CHENNAI:  Reassuring that the State will never allow the hydrocarbon project, the Tamil Nadu government on Monday appealed to the protesters in Neduvasal to give up the stir. Intervening during a debate on the demand for grants to the Revenue Department in the Assembly, Industries Minister M C Sampath made it clear that the State government would not give clearance to the hydrocarbon project despite receiving formal request for clearances regarding environment and pollution and geological licence. He pointed out that Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami had taken up the matter with the Prime Minister recently. “The State government will not allow the hydrocarbon project. So, the protesters should give up the stir,” Sampath appealed.
