ERODE: A fire broke out in a private carton manufacturing unit at Perundurai, about 20 km from here today, but there were no causalities, police said Police said the workers were not on the premises as they had gone out for a break.

On noticing smoke emanating from the unit, they rushed back, saw the blaze and informed fire service personnel.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after a four hour effort.

The cause of the fire was not known, police said, adding the actual loss was being ascertained.
