CHENNAI: A two-day training workshop on risk management and control in workplace was inaugurated in Coimbatore on Thursday. According to a release from the State Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, the workshop was organised by the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Tamil Nadu, the National Safety Council, Mumbai, and the National Safety Council, Tamil Nadu. A booklet on ‘Risk Management and Control in Workplace’ was released by K Kaliannan, Director of Industrial Safety and Health.

Speaking during the function, Kaliannan said Tamil Nadu was a pioneer in conducting safety training programmes for industrial employees. He expressed confidence that the training programmes would improve the safety standards. The director also said modernisation was growing along with advanced technologies, which resulted in exposure to many types of hazards leading to highly risky work places.

S Udayabhanu, vice-president, Pricol Ltd, Coimbatore, K Arul, Additional Director of Industrial Safety and Health, T Nityananda, former director of National Safety Council, Mumbai, P Rajmohan, secretary, National Safety Council-Tamil Nadu chapter and other senior officials participated.
The workshop will conclude on Friday.
