The city police have launched a hunt for two masked men who took away  `1.5 lakh from a temple at Korukkupet here on Friday evening after threatening two persons counting the collections.

CHENNAI: The city police have launched a hunt for two masked men who took away  `1.5 lakh from a temple at Korukkupet here on Friday evening after threatening two persons counting the collections, at knife-point.

Police said Ramalinga Chowdeswari temple at Korukkupet is under construction for the past few months and the authorities have collected money from donors. On Friday evening, Chatrapathi and Krishnamoorthy, who were in charge of managing the donations, were counting the collected cash inside the temple premises. Two men who had covered their faces, held the duo at knife point and escaped.”

A complaint was lodged at Korukkupet station and police are going through CCTV footage of the temple to nab the suspects.
