CHENNAI: Glasses of two MTC buses were damaged in separate incidents after passengers clashed with the crew on Tuesday. In the first incident, Sarvesh of Alandur was driving an MTC bus on route number N45B from Nanganallur to Parrys.

“Around 7.20 pm, the bus stopped at Valluvar statue at Mylapore, where some college students boarded it. As they were travelling on the footboard, the driver asked them to get inside. When they did not pay heed, the driver warned them.

“Angered by this, the students, got off the bus and broke the rear end glass of the bus,” said a police source.

The driver filed a complaint with the police, who have launched a hunt for the students. In another incident, Y Manikandan, 36, a native of Madurai, who had come to the city a few months ago in search of a job, was arrested after a stone he threw fell on a bus, going to Parrys, at Arumbakkam.
Police added that the youth was allegedly under influence of alcohol and had been asked to get down from another bus for not buying a ticket.

He threw a stone at the vehicle, but it hit another bus. The driver immediately informed a patrol vehicle nearby. Police arrested Manikandan.
