COIMBATORE: Lok Shaba deputy speaker and AIADMK senior leader M Thambidurai questioned if the DMK was ready to announce Congress president Rahul Gandhi as prime minister candidate for the next general election.

Thambidurai was speaking to journalists at the Coimbatore International Airport on Monday.

“The AIADMK will face the 2019 parliamentary election alone and will win all 40 Lok Sabha seats; then we will decide the prime minister candidate,” he said.

Reacting to DMK president M K Stalin criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a circus master and the AIADMK party as the circus tent, Thambidurai said that they were happy that Stalin had accepted them as the lion as only the lion can thrive in the circus.

Speaking about the 18 MLAs disqualification case, he said that the party would remain unaffected by the verdict, whatever it may be.
