TIRUNELVELI:   Alleging that the Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi is acting like an opposition party leader, Minister Durai Murugan on Monday said he should resign from his post and contest in a by-election.

"We will allow Ravi to win so that he can talk against us. Otherwise, he can join the BJP, which has been his boss," he added while addressing the DMK cadre in a public meeting. Durai Murugan said that while the opposition party leaders, including the former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and the expelled AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam, remained silent on various issues, Ravi acted like an opposition leader.

"In an interview with a newspaper, Ravi said there were no pending bills before him. That is not true. As many as 15 bills, including the Tamil Nadu Fisheries University Bill, Tamil Nadu Cooperative Societies Bills, Tamil Nadu Universities Laws Bill, and Tamil Nadu Private Colleges (Regulation) Bill are pending before the governor," he added.
