CHENNAI: BJP state president K Annamalai called on former state unit president Tamilisai Soundarajan at her Saligramam residence here on Friday and exchanged pleasantries ending speculations about rift between the two leaders.

After meeting her, Annamalai posted on platform X: “The hard work of Akka (Tamilisai) for the BJP and her political acumen, and her advice give the impetus to the growth of the party in the state.” Annamalai also hailed her saying she, as the state president of the BJP, functioned efficiently. Reciprocating this, quoting Annamalai’s tweet, Tamilisai Soundarajan expressed happiness over meeting “Anbu Thambi Annamalai.”

Amar Prasad Reddy, who worked as a joint in-charge of state BJP’s campaign for the Lok Sabha election in Tamil Nadu and considered close to Annamalai, also shared a video with Tamilisai and tweeted saying, “...Smt Tamilisai Soundararajan Akka is a tremendous asset to our party and a source of inspiration for all party members. Despite her numerous achievements, her humility and simplicity remain untouched.”

On June 12, a video of Tamilisai’s brief conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah wagging his finger at her went viral on social media. On June 13, Tamilisai clarified that her interaction with Shah was about ‘post-poll work.’ Tamilisai and Annamalai had earlier struck discordant notes about the party’s performance in Lok Sabha elections and the decision to break away from AIADMK alliance.
