CM admitted to Apollo, Udhaya says dad is well

A release by the hospital on Monday night said the CM has been advised to take rest for three more days, and he may undergo a few more diagnostic tests for evaluation.

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai on Monday morning for evaluation, after he felt mild giddiness during his routine morning walk.

A release by the hospital on Monday night said the CM has been advised to take rest for three more days, and he may undergo a few more diagnostic tests for evaluation. “He is expected to continue discharging his official duties from the hospital during his stay,” the release said.

Hospital sources told TNIE that the CM is doing completely fine. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who visited his father in the afternoon and later in the evening, said, “He is doing very well”.

After his morning walk and other routine commitments, Stalin came to the DMK headquarters in Anna Salai, where former AIADMK’s organisation secretary A Anwhar Raajhaa joined DMK in his presence. CPM state secretary

The CM later went straight to Apollo Hospital on Greams Road from Anna Arivalayam. Addressing the media after meeting his father, Udhayanidhi said the CM has been on tours and roadshows continuously for the past two to three months, and this may have led to the giddiness.

He added that Stalin has been advised to take complete rest for two days by doctors.

All programmes of the CM, scheduled in Tiruppur and Coimbatore districts on July 22 and 23, have been postponed indefinitely.

The CM also skipped a scheduled function of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department in his Kolathur constituency in the morning and the release of the second part of his wife Durga Stalin’s book ‘Avarum Naanum’ in the evening.

The book release, which was scheduled earlier for Saturday, was postponed because of the demise of Stalin’s half-brother MK Muthu.

Udhayanidhi, who spoke to the media at the hospital, said Stalin was disappointed as he could not attend the book launch. “He watched a live stream of the event,” Udhayanidhi added.

A release by the government said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, actor Rajinikanth and leaders of allied parties and film personalities called up CM to enquire about his health.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan said they prayed for Stalin’s speedy recovery.
