HYDERABAD: The Telangana government is planning to extend the ambit of services offered under the Aarogyasri scheme. Plans are afoot to expand the treatment facilities from present 938 diseases recognised under the scheme by adding a few more, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister T Rajaiah said. Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, he said: “We will cover more diseases under Aarogyasri for the benefit of poor. Talks are on to bring dengue under Aarogyasri. Besides, arrangements will be made to ensure that small operations are conducted at PHCs.” For this purpose, each PHC would be provided four doctors and infrastructure upgraded, he said. The Minister said doctors at the government hospitals should not prescribe any extra medicines other than those available at the hospital. On security and sanitation in government hospitals, he said orders had been issued to district Collectors to streamline the process. Meanwhile, Rajaiah said the Medical Council of India has agreed to renew permission for 50 MBBS seats offered by the Gandhi Medical College (GMC).
