KCR Blames Cong for Suicide of 146 Farmers

Express News Service

NARSAPUR ( MEDAK ):Proving that none can beat him when it comes to paying his opponents in their own coin, chief minister and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao turned the tables against Congress party and its state chief Ponnala Lakshmiah, holding them responsible for the 146 suicides of farmers, which Congress party had claimed to have happened in the last 100 days.

Wondering how a three-month-old TRS government be held responsible for the deeds of the previous government, KCR said that the deaths were the result of the past sins of the Congress misrule. “Ponnala  and his party are only responsible for the farmers’ suicides,’’ he said.

Lashing out at Ponnala’s remarks that nothing had happened in the last three months, the chief minister said “it was true I could not do much but I am happy that I did not do what Congress would have done. If it were Congress rule, the leaders would have gorged Rs 3,000 to 4,000 crore in these 100 days,” the chief minister said.

“I am son of a farmer and a farmer myself. I am aware of problems of the farmers. As I had already said farm loans worth Rs 1 lakh will be waived. The Cabinet has taken a decision and it will be implemented,’’ he said.

Further elaborating, he said he is not lying or misleading the people and it was true that there were problems and RBI had been approached for rescheduling of loans.

KCR said there was no need for having any apprehensions on the commitment of the government over the farm loan waver. He said as promised in his election manifesto, his government had waived autorickshaw taxes, will implement Kalyana Lakshmi scheme from Dasara, under which girls from Muslim and Dalit communities would be  given Rs 51,000 at the time of marriage.

Breathing fire at the BJP for choosing Jagga Reddy as its candidate for Medak LS seat, he said Jagga Reddy is Telangana betrayer and by choosing him as candidate BJP had done a mistake. He wondered why one should vote for the BJP. Is it for giving away seven mandals of the state to Andhra Pradesh? he asked.
