HYDERABAD:ECET-2015, the common entrance test for diploma holders to take admission into engineering, pharmacy and B.Sc mathematics courses in Telangana will be held on May 21 without any changes in the exam pattern, chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) T Papi Reddy has said.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) on Monday released the schedule of TSECET-2015 according to which the notification would be released on February 28 and the process of submitting applications will commence from March 6.
This would be the first ECET by the Telangana government. According to the available data with the TSCHE, currently there are 33,991 seats available in 281 colleges in the state for ECET qualified candidates. Before bifurcation of the state, over 50,000 seats were available.
The convener of TSECET-2015, Prof N Yadaiah, said the examination pattern and the format of application process will remain the same. However, there will be some minor changes in the syllabus. He said the syllabus committee during its meeting on Monday decided to update the syllabus with recent developments and made slight changes. The examination process will also remain offline. Though there were proposals to switch to online exam pattern, the officials have decided to continue with the offline exams for now. The syllabus has already been finalised by the CET committee and it will soon be updated on the official website of ECET, www.tsecet.in. The JNTU will conduct the exam in nine centres including Hyderabad, Karimanagar, Khammam, Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar and Warangal. There are two centres in Hyderabad and the centres in Khammam and Mahbubnagar are newly introduced. The convener said there is a plan to set up an examination centre in Adilabad district as well. ‘’However it will be decided only if we receive more application,” he added.
The candidates who hold diploma certificates in engineering, mathematics and pharmacy can apply for TSECET from March 6. The cost of each form is Rs 300. The exam will be conduced on May 21 and the results will be declared on May 31.
Candidates will not be allowed to write the exam if they are late even by a minute to the examination centre, Yadaiah said. He advised all the candidates to reach the exam centers at least 30 minutes before the exam commences.
