Case Against Renuka’s Husband

KHAMMAM:  Khammam II Town police on Thursday registered a case against Sridhar Chowdary,  husband of MP Renuka Chowdary, and 18 others under SC,ST Atrocities Act based on a complaint by B Kalavathi, wife of late Dr B Ramji.

Kalavathi lodged a complaint in the II town police station on Wednesday saying that some followers of Sridhar Chowdary, abused her in the name of her caste and also threatened to kill her. The complainant alleged that Sridhar Chowdary encouraged them to abuse her by caste. CI of the police station B Srinivasa Reddy said they have registered cases under SC, ST Atrocity Act  against N Deepak Chowdary, P Venkaiah, Nunna Ravi, S Sudharshan, P Rama Rao, Pullaiah, S Naik, Saidulu Naik and others along with Sridhar Chowdary.

It may be recalled that Kalavathi alleged that Renuka had ‘received’ `1.10 crore from her husband by making ‘false promise’ to secure him the party ticket from the Wyra ST reserved Assembly constituency in the last general elections. Ramji has since dead. Kalavathi said she was abused by her caste when she sought return of the money.

But Renuka’s followers denied the allegations and said she did not take any amount from Ramji.
