748 Paddy Purchasing Centres in TS

HYDERABAD: During the current Kharif season, the civil supplies department has  opened 748 paddy purchasing centres till date and 1,69,579 tonnes of paddy was purchased from farmers. Last year, as on the corresponding day, the purchase centres were 685 and the quantity purchased was 1,08,888 tonnes, according to civil supplies commissioner Rajat Kumar.

Rajat said on Friday that they will open as many purchase centres as required. The entire paddy offered by farmers will be accepted at the centres at MSP of `1,450 per quintal for Grade A and `1,410 for common variety. The farmers can avail this facility and get MSP for their produce, Rajat Kumar said.

He said the sale of red gram at `135 per kg was continuing. So far 92 centres were opened in the state and 350 quintals of red gram was sold.
