KARIMNAGAR: Will it be Husnabad or Huzurabad? This is the question posed by many officials who are unsure as to which of these places will become the sixth revenue division of the district.
Before the bifurcation of the state, the united Andhra Pradesh state issued GO 235 to create Husnabad as a new revenue division with 10 mandals. This GO was issued on February 19, 2014. There was a similar demand to create Huzurabad as a revenue division but that was ignored. The then Husnabad Congress MLA A Praveen Reddy, who was close to the then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, was instrumental behind the issuance of the GO. Well before the gazette notification was issued, the state got bifurcated.
After the formation of Telangana, Huzurabad MLA and finance minister Etela Rajender took up the long pending demand of Huzurabad people for turning it into a revenue division. He was able to scrap the GO issued by the Congress government and issued new GO No. 18 for Huzurabad as a new revenue division including 9 mandals while cancelling Husnabad as a revenue division.
Abruptly, a revenue division office was also erected in Huzurabad and Karimnagar revenue divisional officer B Chandrashekar was given the additional charge of the division.
Challenging this order, Ajmira Harya Naik from Nandaram village in Husnabad mandal, petitioned in the High Court.
The High Court raised objections for creating Huzurabad as a new revenue division and quashed the notification.
However, this has left the public stranded. People from Husnabad and Huzurabad are suffering as they have to approach Karimnagar division for resolving even petty issues. This has now turned into a sensitive issue for the TRS government as both constituencies are represented by ruling party MLAs and it will be a quite a task to fulfil the ambitions of only one of the ministers.
