1-Week Jail Term for Harinath Goud

HYDERABAD:  The City Civil Court on Thursday sentenced Bathini Harinath Goud, secretary of the Bathini-Mrigasira Karthi Fish Prasadam, and secretary of Medical and Health department to one week simple imprisonment for violating the conditions laid down to organise fish prasadam event held at Exhibition Grounds near Nampally in 2013.

In the year of 2014, petitioner Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) alleged that the state government and the organisers had breached the conditions such as display of board which was supposed to mention that what was offered was only prasadam, and not medicine, besides, hygiene that has to be maintained while offering the prasadam etc.

On Thursday, the Hyderabad Civil Court directed Harinath Goud and the secretary of medical and health department to undergo imprisonment for one-week. 

However, for the order to be implemented, the petitioner has to move a separate petition specifying name of the secretary at the time of the event.
