Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme works gather momentum in Karnataka

MAHABUBNAGAR:The long-pending works of modernisation of Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) has gained momentum in neighboring Karnataka state.

Chief engineer of Karnataka irrigation department, Mallikarjun held a meeting with the officials of the irrigation department of Telangana and Karnataka states and directed them to instruct contractor concerned to take up the package-I and package-II works of the project.

He said that the package-I works should begin immediately. Strict action would be initiated against contractors if the work did not begin as directed, he added.

The meeting was held at the RDS headworks location. 

Later, SE of irrigation department of Telangana, Siva Rajappa, said they were preparing the estimates for the transformation of scuver sluice manual gates into electrical gates.

In the meeting it was decided to complete these works before the arrival of water to RDS barrage.

Earlier, the EE of the RDS scheme from Telangana Rajender inspected the areas of the package-I and package-II works.

Concrete works are going on package-II  works currently. He urged the Karnataka irrigation department officials to write letters to Raichur and Kurnool district collectors for taking steps to avoid attempts by any individuals or groups to obstruct the works.
