Five more held in Nayeem case

HYDERABAD: Mahbubnagar police arrested five persons, including a Home Guard, on Wednesday in connection with cases pertaining to Mohammad Nayeemuddin’s illegal activities.

With these, the number of persons arrested has risen to 83 in connection with 99 cases registered at various police stations in Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal and Ranga Reddy districts. Mahbubnagar police arrested Vavilla Sanjeev Kumar (34) of Pothepally, Gunduru Srinu (43) of Ajilapuram, Koppu Sandeep (21) of Ajilapuram, Revalli Chakali Krishna (26) of Ajilapuram and Home Guard Keshamolla Ramesh (30) of Bandonipalli village — all the villages being in Veldanda mandal.

The accused are key associates of Nayeem. They were involved in kidnap, murder and forcible armed extortions.

Meanwhile, the control room of Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating Nayeem cases, has been flooded with 372 complaints from people alleging atrocities by Nayeem’s gang. Most of the victims are from Bhongir area. The gangster had many associates and relatives at Bhongir.

Basing on the complaints, cases were registered against the gang. “All the cases are under investigation and efforts are being made to arrest the elusive members of Nayeem’s gang,” SIT officials said.
