WARANGAL: A Pakistani national jailed in Warangal Central Prison for the last 13 years was released on Saturday. According to the prison authorities, the person Harshad Mohammed was held at Hyderabad for traveling on fake passport in 2004.
He was booked under charges of sedition under IPC Section 124A and sent to Warangal Central Prison. Though he was released by the court on August 16 2016, he continued to stay in the prison as the required document needed for his release had not come from the authorities concerned. Two days back, the documents arrived and he was released on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, Harshad said that the jail authorities treated him well. “I have no complaint against them. I would be straightaway heading towards my country.
I am dying to meet my family members,” he said. However, he was not happy with authorities for delaying his release. “I was supposed to be released last year. I was forced to spend another year in the prison unnecessarily. The authorities could have completed all the formalities as soon as they received the court order,” he lamented.
