Telangana CM KC Rao’s saree gift to women for Dasara

Sarees will be distributed through ration shops to all the 1,04,57,610 women on September 18, 19 and 20.

HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to distribute sarees to as many as
1,04,57,610 women in the state, during Bathukamma festival. Rao on Saturday announced that women
above 18 years, who fall under BPL category, will get sarees as a gift irrespective of their caste, community or religion for the coming Dasara. Sarees will be distributed through ration shops to all the 1,04,57,610 women on September 18, 19 and 20.

“All the eligible women have to show their Aadhaar cards and get the saree on Dasara festival from this year onwards. More than one crore women aged above 18 will get a saree on Bathukamma festival,” the chief minister said during a review meeting. The sarees would be purchased from handloom and
powerlooms. The state government to spend ` 200 crore for this novel initiative.
