Telangana government conducts study to connect key roads in 31 districts

HYDERABAD: The state government carried out a study to connect all the important roads in all 31 districts. A private consulting company LEA Associates submitted the study report to roads and buildings minister Thummala Nageswara Rao on Saturday.Under Telangana Rahadarula Abhivruddhi Kaaryakram (TRAK), the state government will connect the roads in all the 31 districts. “TRAK will be a flagship programme of the state government,” the roads and buildings minister said. All the headquarters of the 31 districts would be connected with TRAK, he added.

As part of TRAK, the state government proposed seven main roads for connectivity. Besides, ORR in Hyderabad and regional ring road, Telangana Bangaru Valayam, Bangaru Mala Nadava, North-South link, East-West road way and some Telangana Pragathi Pathaalu (radial roads) would be developed. All these link roads would be connected for better road connectivity in the state.

As part of this massive programme, roads stretching over 5,107 km have been proposed. Out of which, 905 km long road are national highways. As part of district headquarter road connectivity, the department proposed to connect 3,963 km. Once it is completed, 425 mandals will get road facility. TRAK will also connect 87 tourist spots and 91 agriculture market yards too, the minister added.The minister further stated that the proposal to set up a State Road Fund (SRF) was under the active consideration of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
