HYDERABAD: The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Forest and Environment (MoEF) has recommended for grant of environmental clearance for the construction of Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant.

Recently, the energy department officials had presented their case before the EAC. Following this, the panel responded positively for the construction of Bhadradri power plant. Accordingly, the orders were issued on Saturday.

The 1,080 (4x270 MW) Bhadadri Thermal Power Project will come up at Ramanujavaram, Eddulabayyaram and Seetharampuram villages in Manuguru and Pinapaka mandals in Khammam district.

The TS Power Generation Corporation Ltd will take up the construction of the plant.

Earlier, when the civil rights groups had opposed the construction of the Bhadradri plant, the EAC rejected it first. Later, the Genco wanted EAC to reconsider the proposal for the grant of environmental clearance.

A case was also filed before NGT, which rejected the proposal for Bhadradri power plant.
But after considering the repeated pleas of the state, the EAC of the MoEF has now recommended for grant of environmental clearance for the Bhadradri Power Plant.
