HYDERABAD: The state government has decided to hire the services of the best consultant in the country to assess the impact of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on various sectors. The cabinet sub-committee on big industries, which met here on Thursday, took the decision. Finance minister E Rajender and industries minister KT Rama Rao attended the meeting.

The sub-committee also discussed the incentives to be given to big industries in the state in the GST era. Meanwhile, representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)assured Rajender and Rama Rao that they too would submit a report within two weeks on what other states were doing with regard to GST. Later, Rama Rao conducted a detailed review meeting on the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB).

“We have to maintain our top rank this time too,” he said. Later, he asked the officials concerned to give training to the staff on submitting reports for EoDB. He directed the officials to give notices to those who did not start mining operations and to cancel their leases and invite fresh applications.
